Since 1945… the Vickers Viking VC1A G-AGRW

The Blackbushe Heritage Trust

G-AGRW Vickers Viking

The aircraft, named “Vagabond” and registered G-AGRW was acquired during 2022, then dismantled and transported by road from Bad Voslau, Austria, back to Blackbushe in April and May of 2023. Since then work has been underway to restore her to former glory, as a static exhibit.

Heritage Museum

Blackbushe has a rich and varied history, serving as a wartime RAF base, London’s second airport, and a General Aviation facility for 80 years. Blackbushe has ambitious plans for development, including a dedicated space to tell the story of the airport, and display a large collection of historical items.

Trustees

Our trustees include aviation historians, engineers, pilots, and management from Blackbushe Airport.

We are a registered Charity, with registration Number 1198733. Our aims as described on the Charity Commission website are as follows….”To promote the history of Blackbushe Airport, highlighting the unique heritage and importance to initial independent commercial aviation from the UK around the world by restoration of aircraft G-AGRW which will be used as a focal point for educational briefings.”

The ‘Fast Food’ plane

In 2011, Austrian Wings magazine wrote an article on the history of G-AGRW’s time serving at a fast-food restaurant.
